Cotswold Players' Playerthon in aid of TIC+

My Story
Update: You can watch our Playerthon live this weekend on facebook.com/CotswoldPlayhouse
I am a member of the Cotswold Players which is based at the Cotswold Playhouse in Stroud. During the pandemic we have kept in touch with members through various online activities including regular play readings. A much needed light during these tough times.
In society in general, the toll of the pandemic on people's mental well-being and in particular on young people, is sadly clear and I began thinking of what could be done to help? Then I thought why not combine our love of reading plays with raising funds for a mental health charity. I was told about TIC+ by a fellow member of Cotswold Players. I soon understood about this charity's invaluable and much-in-demand counselling services to children and young people, together with support for their parents.
So our fundraising challenge? A 'Playerthon' - 24 hours continuous reading of plays/poems/novels on the 27-28 March.
There is a tradition in theatres that when closed one light (known as the Ghost Light), is always kept on. Why this has evolved is a bit of a mystery. For me this Ghost Light image became synonymous with the idea: 'we are closed but still here, still connected and we will be back!'. I hope very much that our Playerthon will raise money to help TIC+ and the vital work they do. It would mean a great deal to help keep the 'light' this charity clearly provides to children, young people and their families, always shining brightly but especially during this pandemic.
